Torito de Pucará

A little guardian from the Peruvian Andes.

The Torito de Pucará is a traditional ceramic bull from southern Peru, associated with protection, prosperity and fertility.

In the Andean tradition, Toritos are often placed in pairs on the rooftops of homes. Together, they symbolise balance and are believed to watch over the house and the family who lives there.

Mine lives inside.

I keep this little bull at home as my own small guardian — a reminder to keep unwanted energy outside. And every now and then, he has another job: holding an incense stick.

Each Torito is handmade and unique, so the painting, shape and details will vary from piece to piece.

Use it as a talisman, a small object with a story, or simply because you like having a tiny Peruvian bull watching over things.

If used as an incense holder, always place the Torito on a suitable heat-resistant surface to catch falling ash. Never leave burning incense unattended.
