Chanchito — Three-Legged Lucky Pig

Three legs. Apparently, that’s the lucky number.

Meet the Chanchito, a small three-legged pig from Chile.

These little clay pigs are traditionally associated with Pomaire, a Chilean village known for its pottery. Chanchitos are considered symbols of good fortune and are often given to friends and loved ones as a small token of luck and affection.

Whether you believe in lucky pigs or not, this one is rather difficult not to like.

Keep it as a tiny talisman, place it somewhere at home, or give it to someone who could use a little luck.

Some Chanchitos have a small opening in their back and can also hold an incense stick.

Some pieces have an opening for an incense stick. If used for incense, always place the Chanchito on a suitable heat-resistant surface to protect furniture from falling ash, and never leave burning incense unattended.
